MUSC 0199 - African Drumming

An introduction to the repertory of dance drumming and vocal music of the Ewe people of Ghana, Togo, and Benin. Students are introduced to a wide range of topics to West African culture, philosophy, and daily life, and learn to perform this indigenous music in an ensemble setting. Repertory will include Atsiagbekor (traditional), and Gahu (traditional), and Gahu (updated). No prior musical training is necessary.
