The Gastroenterology Course provides comprehensive and integrated instruction of the evaluation and treatment of the patient with gastrointestinal disorders. This approach provides instruction in scientific concepts pertaining to the gastrointestinal system; patient interviewing and physical exam skills; disorders of the gastrointestinal system; and the treatment required for patient centered appropriate care expected of a physician assistant. Students learn the critical thinking and decision-making process for diagnosing; evaluating and treating patients with gastrointestinal disease in faculty guided small simulation learning groups.
