POLS 0301 - Classical Political ThoughtCredits: 3 Considers some of the principal texts and themes in the political thought of the ancient Greeks, beginning with the emergence of political discourse in Greek tragedy and continuing with Plato and Aristotle, the two foundational theorists of the western tradition. The course focuses on the theoretical ideas and questions suggested by the texts, and how they have influenced contemporary notions of justice, knowledge, political community, public and private, masculine and feminize, and power. |
