This course offers an analysis of a wide range of civil rights movements, including African American, Native American, Chicano/Puerto Rican, gay and lesbian, and prisoner's rights. Other minority group movements may also be discussed. Readings examine the key leaders, organizations, and philosophies associated with each movement. The impact of racism, discrimination, prejudice, and homophobia on contemporary society will also be explored.
