POLS 0230 - Asian Politics

This course examines economic development and democratization in major Asian countries. East Asian industrialization as well as on the process of political liberalization in the region during the cold war is discussed. Major topics of discussion may also include: communist China's political, economic reform in the 1980's and its emergence as an economic, military power in the new millennium; North Korea's nuclear programs; China and terrorism; and other challenges America faces in Asia.
