EDUC 0578 - Behavior Support for Students with Emotional/Behavioral Disorders

This course explores identification of, and appropriate intervention strategies for, students with emotional and behavior disorders, both psychological and co-occurring with other disabilities. The focus will be on observational assessment, data analysis and interpretation to develop a Functional Behavior Assessment and Positive Behavior Support Plan to facilitate the student's access to learning and inclusion. Issues of race, language, culture and disproportionate diagnoses of behavior disorders will be addressed. This course focuses on the importance of creating and maintaining a safe and collaborative learning environment for students with emotional and behavioral needs which aligns with the department's commitment to Building Community. This graduate course is cross-listed with EDUC 0378 and is differentiated by assignments, learning outcomes and expectations at an advanced level.
