ENGL 0609 - Contemporary Tensions in English Teaching

This course focuses on contemporary issues (e.g., race and racism, queer identities, book banning) and controversies in ELA instruction in the middle and secondary school. Students will gain a deep understanding of a key issue and its tensions, and develop curricular and/or public responses to address the issue to help teachers and their students be more agentic in relation to educational tensions.
