EDUG 0526 - Methods of Teaching 3 Through Social Studies

This course is the third and final of a series of three methods courses for the prospective teacher. In this advanced methods course, students will focus on inclusive curriculum planning, teaching, learning, and assessment with a focus on history and social studies content. Critical examination of curricular materials and methods, subject matter knowledge, adjustment to practice, high expectations, and equitable and safe learning environments will be emphasized.  Learning experiences focused on the design of units and lessons that meet the needs of diverse learners, address the Massachusetts Curriculum Framework for History and Social Science, and reflect culturally sustaining pedagogies are central to this course and align with the department's commitment to Critical Engagement with Diversity, Social Justice, Scholarship, and Reflective Practice. This graduate course is cross-listed with EDUC 0339 and is differentiated by assignments, learning outcomes and expectations at an advanced level.
