ENGL 0502 - Summer Leadership Institute

Credits: 3

The Summer Leadership Institute engages participants in three key sets of activities: personal writing and peer response, reflection on and sharing of literacy teaching practices, and inquiry into pedagogical questions that stem from course readings, instructors' experiences and that are focused on teaching writing.  All participants develop an inquiry stance and an inquiry question to be examined in action research in their classrooms throughout the year with a culminating presentation at the WMWP Spring Best Practices in Teaching Writing Conference.  The institute both provides access to the network of teacher-educators that comprise the WMWP and supports teachers in implementing more effective strategies for facilitating writing in their classrooms.
