PSYC 0364 - Capstone Experience: PsychopharmacologyCredits: 3 This Capstone Experience (CE) course introduces students to the mechanisms utilized by drugs to alter neurophysiological function, and affect cognition and behavior. Concepts related to the brain's neurochemistry pertaining to drug action will be covered. The course also introduces students to the brain's natural reward system, how it changes following addiction, and the physiological basis for tolerance and withdrawal. Lastly, common drugs of abuse, their mode of action, and changes in the brain that occur from their chronic use will be covered. Prerequisites: PSYC 0101 and one of the following: PSYC 0312 , PSYC 0341 , or BIOL 0129 . Or permission of instructor. Formerly PSYC 0364 - Drugs & Behavior |
