EDUC 0329 - Methods of Teaching and Learning 2: Science

This course is the second of a series of three methods courses for the prospective teacher. In this intermediate methods course, students will focus on inclusive teaching, learning, and assessment in the content area of science, including critically examining methods and curricular materials.  Students will demonstrate their understanding of subject matter knowledge, strategies for meeting diverse needs, and engaging in reflective practice through writing and enacting well-structured lessons that align with the Massachusetts Curriculum Framework for Science and Technology/Engineering.  This course frames science instruction in inquiry and problem-based learning ways and critically examines institutional practices of science instruction that create inequities in education. The learning experiences in this course align with the department's commitment to Critical Engagement with Diversity, Social Justice, and Reflective Practice. 

Prerequisites: Grade of B or better in EDUC 0319 .
