PSYC 0645 - Counseling Diverse PopulationsCredits: 3 This course is designed to provide students with cultural and social foundations as well as examine the research pertaining to counseling in a diverse society. Theoretical approaches and experiential exercises are used to assist in the development of personal awareness and sensitivity toward issues of diversity (e.g., ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, age, religion, gender). Attention will be paid to the way therapists and clients construct meaning in a multicultural and diverse society. Prerequisites: PSYC 0522 - Theories of Counseling or PSYC 0523/PSYC 0524 - Counseling Basics or permission of instructor |
