Crisis intervention training is essential for law enforcement and mental health co-responders. The course combines practice with principles of crisis prevention and intervention. Topics include crisis theory, suicide, suicide assessment, post-traumatic stress disorder, systems of community-based crisis management, involuntary treatment, infrastructure needed for effective crisis management, reaction to trauma and abuse. Application of crisis intervention with special populations and circumstances will also be addressed, such as domestic violence, developmental disabilities, juveniles, and victims of crises.
