NURS 0695 - Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Practicum ICredits: 3 The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Practicum Part I is a direct care experience within a supervised healthcare setting. This practicum is an integral component of the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program, offering students the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in a real-world clinical environment. During part one, students will engage in supervised practice focusing on foundational skills, including comprehensive psychiatric assessments, diagnostic formulation, and treatment planning. Emphasis is placed on developing effective therapeutic relationships, honing communication skills, and applying evidence-based interventions in the care of individuals with mental health disorders. This practicum serves as a foundation for subsequent clinical experiences, allowing students to integrate classroom learning with practical, patient-centered psychiatric mental health care. Prerequisites: NP major core, NURS 0601, and NURS 0602. Corequisite: NURS 0603. |
