NURS 0696 - Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Practicum II

Credits: 6

The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Practicum Part II is a continuation of the clinical experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting. Building on the foundational skills acquired in Part I, this practicum focuses on more advanced aspects of psychiatric mental health practice. Students engage in increasingly complex clinical scenarios, refining their diagnostic and therapeutic skills under the supervision of experienced preceptors. In part two, students deepen their understanding of evidence-based interventions, treatment planning, and medication management for diverse mental health disorders. The emphasis is on developing proficiency in autonomous decision-making, refining diagnostic accuracy, and effectively collaborating within interdisciplinary teams. Students may also have the opportunity to specialize in specific areas of psychiatric practice, such as child and adolescent mental health, addiction psychiatry, or geriatric psychiatry.
