ENGL 0301 - Tutoring Writing

Designed for students from all majors, this course will teach students how to help their peers - now and in the future - with writing projects. Designed to prepare students to work in WSU's Reading and Writing Center, the course also suits those interested in becoming teachers and/or pursuing a career that involves writing and/or collaborative work. Students will deepen their understanding of the writing process, gain a heightened awareness of the varying expectations that accompany writing in different rhetorical contexts; learn the tutoring process through readings, observations, and practice; cultivate the habit of metacognitive reflection; and work to promote positive social change in our community.

Prerequisites: ENGL 0101  and permission of the instructor.
