GPS 0204 - Housing in AmericaCredits: 3 Housing is more than just a roof over one's head. This course explores how housing is a unique product, and its importance to personal identity, development of self, and community. In addition, this course addresses the historical and contemporary issues of housing discrimination based on race, class, family composition, and sexual orientation. The class also covers policies America has adopted to attempt to meet housing needs of a diverse population including groups such as the differently-abled, low and moderate-income households, and the elderly. Material in this course will be presented through readings, lectures, student discussion, films, personal reflection, review of current events, activities, and more. |
