The comprehensive practice of music literacy through sightsinging, rhythmic reading, and ear training. Topics include the use of solfeggio in the singing and dictation of melodies in major and minor keys; the singing and aural identification of simple intervals, scales, triads and chords; and rhythmic reading and dictation in simple and compound meters.  Includes exercises in structured improvisation.
