NURS 0301 - Global Health: Innovations and Impact in a Connected World

This course explores global health threats, their determinants, and the role of social and technological innovations in addressing them. Using an interdisciplinary approach, students will examine health production, policy responses, and strategies for effective intervention at global, regional, and local levels. Low-income countries face a growing and disproportionate burden of disease, including maternal mortality, child under-nutrition, infectious diseases (HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis, zoonotic diseases), and chronic conditions. These health challenges are closely linked to broader social dynamics such as urbanization, migration, political conflict, economic disparities, and gender inequities, all of which will be examined in this course.
