MUSC 0111 - Fundamentals of Music and Musicianship
Credits: 3
An integrated introduction to notational literacy and practice in a variety of styles of tonal music. Includes the study of notation, chords, intervals, scales, and major and minor key collections; an introduction to the piano keyboard, to rhythmic reading and notation in simple and compound meters, to sightsinging and solfeggio, and to ear training through interval, rhythmic, and melodic dictation. Includes structured compositional exercises. This course also includes practice with structured compositional exercises.
Prerequisites: Music major or minor status or permission of the instructor.
