MUSC 0212 - Advanced Creative Practice in Music

A continuation of all concepts from MUSC 0211 , progressing through chromatic harmony and modernist, post-modern, and contemporary techniques. Includes the study of secondary chords, modulation, mode mixture and other altered chords in tonal music; extended tertian chords including 9ths, 11ths and 13ths; a survey of compositional techniques used in Modernist and Post-Modernist styles. Includes structured compositional exercises.

Prerequisites: MUSC 0211 or permission of instructor.
