EXPL 0131 - How to Measure Fairness

Students will use a variety of accessible mathematical tools such as ratios, geometric measurement, probability, decision theory, algorithms, and game theory to analyze and understand our current social and political systems and critique drivers of inequity in these systems. We will explore topics such as voting theory, congressional apportionment and districting, bias in jury selection, spread of acceptance of difference in social networks, and other topics that may emerge from current events.
