EDUC 0648 - Diagnosis of and Intervention for Literacy Difficulties: Grades PreK-2 Credits: 3
This course is designed to support literacy teachers’ knowledge of best literacy assessments and instructional practices for struggling readers in grades PreK-2. Participants will apply this knowledge and skill by administrating appropriate assessments to diagnose strengths and needs of a grade PreK-2 student and by designing and implementing a literacy program to meet needs. The field-hours requirement will allow participants to practice tiered intervention practices. The final course outcome is a written case study.
Thirty (30) field-hours are required.
Prerequisites: An undergraduate or graduate level foundation course in teaching reading.
