Credits: 3

This course examines the early history of the United States and its systems of government. Understanding the origins of our nation’s civic principles is of vital importance to becoming an active participant in the democratic process. By exploring systems of government in the colonial era, the transition to the United States Constitution, and challenges faced by state and federal governments through 1900, students learn about the origins of the democratic republic in which they reside. Not open to students who have taken HIST 0130 .
