GPS 0333 - Climate Change and Human Health Credits: 3
This course explores the connections between global climate change and its direct and indirect impacts on human health and well-being. We start with an overview of climate change science and then focus on impacts such as extreme weather, air quality, heat stress, drought, food security, nutrition, diseases/pandemics, conflict, and climate migration. We then consider solutions (mitigation & adaptation) in the context of vulnerability, risk management, and climate/health justice using a geographic, place-based framework. Students will complete a semester-long research project to integrate their learning across course content. This course is open to all majors.
Prerequisites: GPS 0102 , GPS 0106 , GPS 0107 , GPS 0110 , or permission of instructor.
