GPS 0334 - GIS for Public Health Decision Making


Credits: 3

This course examines the principles and applications of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in the context of public health.  You will utilize state-of-the-art GIS tools such as ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS Dashboards to visualize and analyze public health data across space and time to identify patterns, hot spots, and connections to facilitate data-driven decision-making by healthcare providers, public officials, and the general public. This course will cover topics related to disease surveillance and pandemics, emergency/disaster response, public health management and infrastructure, issues of health inequity, and more. This course is suitable for students enrolled in any health-related program and students in biology, urban and regional planning, criminal justice, social work, and psychology.
