COMM 0103 - Beyond Words: Exploring Emotion Through Facial Expressions and Non-Verbal Cues

This course explores the vital role of facial expressions and nonverbal cues in shaping emotional connection and well-being. Students will explore the science behind basic emotions, microexpressions, and the hidden meanings conveyed through facial cues, as well as nonverbal cues across different cultures. Through interactive discussions, practical exercises, and reflective assignments, students will develop a deeper understanding of how these often-unspoken signals impact our interpersonal relationships. Students will learn how to recognize, interpret, and apply nonverbal communication skills to improve empathy, emotional regulation, and overall relationship health, gaining knowledge that support both personal well-being and meaningful social connections.
