CRJU 0363 - Sports and Criminal Behavior
Credits: 3
This course will investigate crime within the world of sports. A variety of issues and perspectives will be covered that look at the connection between sports and criminal behavior. A macro perspective will examine cultural issues related to preferential treatment for athletes and entitlement that are connected with criminal behavior like violence against women and hazing. A micro perspective will look at the effect sports can have on individuals’ lives positively through correctional programs and negatively through drug use. A variety of other topics will be discussed, including illegal gambling, spectator violence, and rioting.
