The Department offers a major in Social Work leading to the BSW (Bachelor of Social Work) degree.
The major in social work prepares students to practice bachelor’s level social work in today’s complex world. This preparation takes into consideration the value of human diversity in the world and the reality of oppression in the world. Specifically, the curriculum provides students with the values and ethics, the skills, and the knowledge needed for beginning level generalist social work practice. The Bachelor of Social Work program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Current graduates from the program are eligible to apply for social work licensure at the bachelor’s level in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and may be able to apply for advanced standing in graduate schools of social work.
