Biochemistry Minor Requirements

Skills and knowledge in biochemistry are highly valued in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries; much of the research in biology and in chemistry has a biochemical component as well. This minor allows students from both the Biology and the Chemistry majors to increase their expertise in this field by taking two semesters of biochemistry (both lab courses) along with foundational courses.

• BIOL 0129 - General Biology I Credits: 4
• CHEM 0109 - General Chemistry I Credits: 4
• CHEM 0111 - General Chemistry II Credits: 4
• CHEM 0201 - Organic Chemistry I Credits: 4
• CHEM 0203 - Organic Chemistry II Credits: 4
• CHEM 0315 - Biochemistry I with Lab Credits: 4
• CHEM 0316 - Biochemistry II Credits: 4

  Chemistry majors adding the Biochemistry minor would increase their courseload by 8 credits by taking BIOL 0129  and CHEM 0316 . All other courses in the minor are already a requirement for their major.
