PSYC 0368 - Psychology of the Visual Arts

Psychology of the Visual Arts explores the scholarship on the human need to produce and experience visual art. Psychological theory and empirical research fromt he fields of neuroscience, evolutionary, cognitive, developmental, psychometric, clinical, counseling, and positive psychology all inform how questions related to art will be addressed. Topics that will be explored in relation to the visual arts include: happiness, flow, neuroscience, art therapy, the child as an artist, personality and creativity, intelligence and creativity, mental illness and art, eccentricity, creativity and culture, psychometric approaches to creativity, and teaching or enhancing creativity.
