In this course, students examine the rise of activism in Asian American communities, from the Yellow Power Movement of the 1960s to the present, with the impact of globalization and the “war on terrorism.” Students will learn about the problems these myriad Asian communities have faced in the past and continue to face in the present. They will also learn the similarities and differences between different groups from Asia and the ways in which they have come together for political empowerment in the United States.
