HIST 0328 - Roman Emperors, 27 BCE - 476 CE Credits: 3
This course surveys the history of the Roman Empire from Augustus to the collapse of its Western half in 476 CE. Topics of study include: Roman colonialism, the formation of an imperial identity, economic and social relations within imperial society, gender relations, Roman sports, and the relationship between imperial authorities and Christianity. Class time will be divided between lectures and discussions of primary sources.
Prerequisites: Minimum Sophomore standing required.
