EDUC 0348 - Interdisciplinary in Child Care and Early Education
Credits: 3
This course focuses on an interdisciplinary approach to curriculum design and provides students with the understanding, knowledge, and skills essential to developing and implementing a culturally sustaining and developmentally relevant curriculum for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Students will explore methods for inclusive curriculum planning, teaching, learning, and assessment with a focus on social studies, language arts, math, and science. Integrated learning experiences that meet the diverse needs of very young children and align with the Massachusetts Learning Standards and Curriculum Guidelines for educators in child care and early education are central to this course. Content of course aligns with the department’s commitment to Critical Engagement with Diversity, Community Building, and Reflective Practice. Field hours may be required depending on the student’s program of study.
