The Coaching Minor, offered by the Department of Sports Medicine and Human Performance, provides students with fundamental coaching knowledge and skills needed for a variety of sporting environments. The minor was designed to address the following domains (as identified by the National Association for Sport and Physical Education):
- Philosophy and Ethics
- Safety and Injury Prevention
- Physical Conditioning
- Growth and Development
- Teaching and Communication
- Sport Skills and Tactics
- Organization and Administration
- Evaluation
The Coaching Minor is open to all majors. For Movement Science and Athletic Training majors, credit may apply to both the major and the minor.
The minor consists of 18 credits, as defined below.
