Health Sciences, Occupational Therapy Assistant Concentration, B.S.

The Occupational Therapy Assistant Concentration within the Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences degree prepares students to become entry-level occupational therapy assistants. Students enrolled in this concentration will complete the University’s general education requirements, core health science courses, and required OTA concentration classes. 

Graduates of the OTA concentration will be eligible to sit for the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy Ⓡ exam for occupational therapy assistants.

The American Occupational Therapy Association’s ACOTE has granted Westfield State University Candidacy Status for accreditation. Initial accreditation will develop as the program advances. For more information, please contact ACOTE at www.acote.org.

Health Sciences Core Requirements (15 Credits)


All Health Science students must complete the following core courses with a grade of B or higher:

Occupational Therapy Assistant Concentration (77 Credits)


Students completing the Occupational Therapy Assistant concentration must take the following courses and earn a grade of C or higher.

Additional Graduation Requirements


All students must meet the University Graduation Requirements  and complete a general education or common core of studies, distributed among the different academic areas as detailed in General Education: WISE  or Common Core .
